Treasure Tuesday's Thrift Shop Find
Those of you who follow mw on Instagram, davidkeanthrifting got a preview of this the day I bought the lamp.
I was heading back from appointments and decided to go by a favorite thrift shop, Out of the Closet in West Hollywood CA. Having worked for high-end antique dealers I knew this was a favorite place to send donations. This lamp caught my eye immediately, and was the style I wanted for my great room.
Imagine the joy when I saw a price tag from a showroom I knew well, and the price of $525. The lamp was marked $55, but... the store was offering 30% discount on furniture. So I walked out with it for $38.50
My new baby all strapped in and going for a ride.
I had a shade from another lamp and tried it for size and shape. It looks great, other than the color blends into the wall too much for my taste.
An ready made black shade that would blend with the table would be an easy find at any big box lamp store. I may splurge and go with a custom gray lacquered paper shade. Not sure yet.
Crackle glaze and gilded wood base.
