Treasure Tuesday's Fabulous Find. A Stark Discovery.
Today's fabulous find is a continuation of my breakfast set. last week I posted the Noguchi, Cyclone table, today the Philippe Stark, Victoria Ghost Chairs.
I always loved this Philippe Stark chair, and after keeping my eyes open, and doing eBay searches for quite a while, this deal appeared. I initially found two chairs on eBay. They were a local eBay seller, so there would be no extra cost for shipping. A couple was moving and didn't really have a spot to use them in their new home so I scored them for $60 each. Retail is $350 per chair so that's more than 80% off retail and the chairs were in perfect condition. I still needed two more to complete the set.
A couple months later I was roaming through Wertz Brothers, a Santa Monica CA used furniture liquidator and there they were... Two more matching chairs just waiting for me. This pair was slightly more expensive at $140 for the pair. Needless to say I bought them immediately.
So for $260 and a little patience I ended app with $1,400 worth of chair. Got the real chairs for less than the cost of inexpensive knock-offs.
I finally understand the saying that "Patience is a virtue".
