Treasure Tuesday's Fabulous Thrift Find. Alessi for $1.99

I was doing a second walk-through of the housewares section of Goodwill and spotted this under a pile of junk.  It had nice weight, and was signed Alessi, a well known Italian manufacturer of modern stainless steel items.  I was intrigued that it was silver-plate by Alessi.   I set it back on the shelf and started to walk away since I don't need any more silver.  Then I thought twice and did a quick search on my phone.  Resale prices range from the $300-$600 range depending on condition.  This bowl though heavily tarnished, seemed to be in good condition with the exception of two pits in the plating.  At the bargain price of $1.99 how could I resist.

I'll be listing this find for sale on eBay, and will update you with the sale price.

My thrifting mantra: Buy some, Sell, some, Give some away

Vintage Italian silver plated Alessi 'Rosenschale' rose bowl designed by Peter Arnell and Ted Bickford and made around 1983. This stylish rounded open bowl stands raised on four ball feet with a pierced design repeated around the rim with impressed manufacturer's marks and numbered.
The bowl was apparently designed by Arnell and Bickford as a tribute to Josef Hoffmann. They came across a 1906 photograph of this design and recreated for Alessi in 1983.

As I found the bowl in the store before any cleaning or polishing.

Alessi signature and serial number of the bowl.

Silver polish, a soft cloth, and elbow-grease and patience will remove years of tarnish.

Two small pits in the silver plate will lower the value a bit.
